Look out for One Nite Stand!

In December 2009, three guys in Bengaluru were asked to get together to play at their common friend’s wedding. This is when One Nite Stand (ONS) was born. “Since it was only going to be a one night gig, we decided to name the band as One Nite Stand,” shares Behram, vocalist and bass guitarist of ONS, adding, “It was quite ironic though – to have a One Nite Stand, when someone was getting married.”

Post the “one night stand”, the band received a highly positive response, which made them hunt for a pianist to complete their foursome. “The response we received was very encouraging and gave us an incentive to form a full-fledged band. That’s when we started auditioning for a pianist, and found Neville, who is a child prodigy of sorts and has various accolades to his credit,” recalls Behram. And, since then, there has been no looking back.

ONS has been performing in various music festivals, have had various tours across the country, and will be making their first international presence by June-end. “I can’t reveal much. But, we will be going on an international tour soon,” quips the excited vocalist.

And, that’s not all. Having started their musical journey by playing covers from bands like Coldplay, U2, Maroon 5, ONS will now move on to coming out with an album of their own. “We prefer to call our music is as ‘feel good rock’ and our self-titled album will be out by the end of this year,” reveals Behram, who is a pilot when he’s not playing with ONS. Ask him as to why do they call their genre of music as ‘feel good rock’, and Behram begins to explain, “The kind of music we play does not fall under the category of heavy metal, or rap and is definitely not depressing. Our music is very audience-oriented and filled with energy.”

One Nite Stand will be performing at Hard Rock Cafe on April 19. “This will be out second gig in Hyderabad. The first one was a major hit, and we look forward to entertaining Hyderabadis this time as well.”  However, just to clarify, this band is not the same as the Mumbai-based One Night Stand.
