HYDERABAD: A 22-year-old IIT aspirant committed suicide by hanging himself at his hostel in LB Nagar.

Police said Shashimant Reddy had failed to crack the IIT entrance twice and killed himself at the Sri Chaitanya Junior College hostel where he was staying on Saturday night. Shashimant, who hailed from Aler in Nalgonda district, had joined for a oneyear IIT coaching at the residential junior college.

“The student secured 154 marks when he appeared for IIT entrance for the first time and after taking the coaching this year, he scored 108 marks. His friends told us that Shashimant was really depressed,” Naveen Kumar, sub inspector at LB Nagar said. The SI said they found a suicide note in which Shashimant said no one was responsible for his death.

However his father has alleged the suicide was due to negligence of the college management.
