HYDERABAD: A 20-year-old student was found dead in her hostel room at the University of Hyderabad on Monday afternoon.

The student identified as K Swathi Rani from Chintaguda in Karimnagar district was in her third year of the integrated master's course in language sciences.

Chandanagar police inspector, N Venkateshwarlu, who is investigating the case, said the reason for her suicide could not be ascertained as the girl did not leave behind any suicide note.

According to him, the roommate had found the body hanging at 12.15 pm on Monday afternoon, following which the body was immediately taken to the university health centre where the doctors declared her 'brought dead'.

She had apparently hanged herself with her 'dupatta'.

According to chief warden in the university, Prof RS Sarraju, the roommate of Swathi used to stay in the city during exam time.
