Applauding the organisers for staging the coaching camps for the last four decades, he hoped individual attention would be a given factor this year as well.

He also revealed the total spending of GHMC for the coaching camps was Rs 1 crore.

Further, MT Krishna Babu, Commissioner, GHMC, informed that the civic body had established seven multipurpose indoor stadia of international standard for the benefit of sportspersons in the city.

“Additionally, GHMC is planning to construct four new indoor stadia costing around Rs 4-6 crore each in all the Assembly Constituencies,” he added.

He also hinted that former international sportspersons would be invited to the camps to share their experiences with the children.

Singireddy Srinivas Reddy, TDP floor leader, on his part requested the commissioner to extend the facilities of the coaching camps to the children living in the city’s many slums as well.

Last year, the GHMC conducted the summer coaching camps in 54 disciplines, in 1997 centres, with 2058 coaches providing guidance to nearly 1,53,594 children.

This, year the numbers have risen to 2053 centres and 2138 coaches.
