HYDERABAD: The Punjagutta police on Thursday arrested three persons who were involved in killing a 26-year-old maid.

According to police, the victim, Premavathi, hailing from Prakasam district, had an illegal affair with one of the accused. When she demanded money from him, he hatched a plan to kill her. Accordingly, he kidnapped her and took her to Guntur and the trio killed her there on April 14.

The arrested -- Venkata Reddy, Nagaraju and Tulasi Das -- work as security guards at White House in Greenlands, Begumpet. Police said that Premavathi came to the city after divorcing her husband. She joined as a housekeeper at White House and was staying at a women’s hostel in Punjagutta police station limits.

“She had an affair with Venkata Reddy. When she demanded money from him, Reddy, on April 13, called her up and told her to collect the money from Uppal. As she reached the place, Reddy and his friends forcibly dragged her into a car and drove to Guntur,’’ police said. On April 14, they killed her and left the dead body there.

The next day, Premavathi’s mother, Dayavathi, lodged a complaint against Venkat Reddy with the Punjagutta police. Based on the caller list in Venkat Reddy’s mobile, police held the trio, who, during interrogation confessed to the crime.
