HYDERABAD: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) has forwarded to sub-registrars in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts a list of benami properties alleged to be owned by Mallisetty Bhanu Kiran and urged them to track down his assets.

A team of senior officials will take Bhanu by flight to Madhya Pradesh Sunday to seize the illegal weapons he is said to have stored in a rented house in Seoni.

Bhanu, key accused in the Maddelacheruvu Suri murder case, is being grilled by CID officials and has allegedly revealed during interrogation that some of his benami assets were in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.

On Saturday, the fourth consecutive day of interrogation, Bhanu also revealed that he possessed five unlicensed revolvers. When Bhanu sent a mail to one of his friends, CID officials traced it and arrested him at a dhaba near Zaheerabad in Medak district.

Bhanu was on his way to Zaheerabad to collect Rs 1 lakh from the friend,’’ officials said.

Bhanu, who allegedly spent more than Rs 4 lakh during his days as a fugitive, is said to have sought money from a businessman, stating that he was in a financial crisis.  With the businessman failing to do the needful, Bhanu contacted his friend for money.
