Bank strike on August 22, 23

Employees and officers from the banking sector will observe  a two-day all-India strike on August 22 and 23 in protest against the proposed Banking Sector Reform Bill which is likely to be passed by Parliament soon.

Bank Employees Federation of India’s state unit general secretary P Venkataramaiah said in a press release on Sunday that the Union government proposed to enhance the voting rights of foreign investors in private sector banks and also the voting rights of private individuals in public sector banks through amendments to the Banking Regulation Act-1949.
