HYDERABAD: A tanker load of refined oil was stolen from Hayathnagar on Saturday night and police suspect the hands of the lorry cleaner behind the theft.

The tanker with registration number AP 29T 1627 belongs to Srinivas Reddy of Shanti Nagar in Hayathnagar. Srinivas Reddy hired a person, Raju, to clean the lorry.

Srinivas on Saturday asked the vehicle driver to go to Shatamrai and get the tanker filled with refined oil. The oil was to be transported to Visakhapatnam on Sunday morning. Srinivas Reddy sent away the driver to take rest and asked Raju to guard the load in the vehicle which was parked in Shanti Nagar during night. On Sunday morning, Srinivas Reddy did not found the vehicle in the locality and lodged a complaint with Hayathnagar police. The value of the stolen property is estimated to be Rs 25 lakh, said police. A theft case was registered and a hunt is launched to nab Raju.
