HYDERABAD:  In a tragic incident, a class III student, who was playing in the school grounds at Shamirpet, was knocked down by a school bus on Monday.

P Rahul (8), was a resident of Turkapally and class III student of Vijetha Techno high School in the same locality.  The boy after coming back from school went to play in the grounds of local zilla parishad high school.

Shamirpet police said a van belonging to Pallavi Public School entered the grounds to park the vehicle after dropping the students at around 5.45 p.m.

“Instead of driving on the main road, the driver drove on the adjacent kaccha road where Rahul was playing. Rahul could not get out of the way of the van as there was a ditch behind him and was hit by it,'' the police said.

Rahul sustained a severe head injury and died instantly. Locals informed the boy's parents who rushed to the spot and found their son in a pool of blood. Rahul was the only son of Narsimhulu, a mason, and Lalitha, a housewife.  The driver is absconding.
