Great expectations..

Gone are the days of roses on V-Day; whoever says my love is like a red, red rose may end up with a red,red nose.
Great expectations..

Guess what’s catching up among women in the twin cities of late? Outlandish demands! Bored with the usual desi sarees, stuffed toys, roses and greeting cards, women these days have gone global. From exotic pets to jewellery, cars and electronic devices, they want their gifts to be unique, smart and classy. With Valentine’s Day just ahead, this is something all the men should definitely worry about!

“I wish my boyfriend would take me to Barcelona,” muses Parvati Menon, an IT employee at Thompson Reuters. A nice vacation with the loved one on Valentine’s Day is a woman’s dream. Be it Sri Lanka, Andaman or Barcelona, a nice place with some nice food will just create the best of memories, they believe.

Moving on to women’s second love - jewellery. Women have always been fond of jewellery, be it a classy platinum chain with a pendant or ethnic and heavy traditional kundan jewellery, they want it all. Wishing her boyfriend would also gift something similar is Shreya Jain, a communications student. “I want a nice emeralds neck-piece from Dubai. I think Dubai has the most amazing collection of jewellery. So, I guess that would be a nice gift for Valentine’s Day this year.” Another employee, Apekhsa Kothari, who is working as a consultant I - Tax at Deloitte wishes, “I  would want my boyfriend to gift me fresh water pearls from the Australian ocean waters.” Is the poor man listening?? Women also love a lot of things apart from jewellery, like pets. Mariyam Kamil, a final-year law student from Osmania University, reveals,  “I want a St Bernard from Italy this Valentine. I just love dogs and I think St Bernards are also among the cutest dogs ever.”

Romantic dates are always a part of the V-Day. Expressing her idea of an ideal and exotic date, Krishna Saroja, student from the Institute of Public Enterprise, points out, “a ride in a hot air balloon in London would be like the perfect Valentine date for me. I’ll cherish it forever.”

And women can never get enough of their beauty needs either. Aarati Rao, a home-maker admits, “I just love beauty products from Lancome, Body Shop and Mac. I want their perfumes, creams, shampoos, conditioners, eye make-up stuff and everything.” Women also have a flair for art and sure do they have something in mind for the V-Day. Shreya Jain says, “Apart from jewellery, I also want a very rare art piece from Paris.”  Now, any brave hearts out there who want to celebrate V-Day?
