HYDERABAD: City-based businessman V Ram Babu, who allegedly committed suicide on Sunday, had been depressed for the last few days, his family members told the Malakpet police who are investigating the case registered under Section 174 of CrPC (suspicious death).

Ram Babu’s daughter was engaged to Telugu film actor Gopichand but the betrothal was called off which depressed Ram Babu. Repeated efforts to contact Gopichand proved futile. Sources close to the actor said that he was away at Srisailam for Mahasivaratri. Malakpet police inspector N Satyanarayana said they registered the case based on a complaint lodged by Ram Babu’s brother. In the complaint the family members said Ram Babu had not been well. On the fateful day, he went into the bedroom in a depressed condition.

A few hours later, the family members broke open the door and found him lying unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital but his life could not be saved.
