HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Monday directed assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Punjagutta to take immediate action against Balkampet corporator, Seshu Kumari and her close aide C Ravindra Kumar who were involved in threatening a woman. Ravindra Kumar was also allegedly involved in a rape attempt of the woman.
The Commissioner also directed the ACP to look into threat allegations made by the victim against Telugu Desam Party (TDP) corporator and submit a comprehensive report by March 14.
The victim Kranthi, resident of SR Nagar had lodged a complaint to the SHRC stating that Balkampet corporator Seshu Kumari and her close aide were involved in threatening her with dire consequences and had asked her to vacate SR Nagar.
In her petition, Kranthi said that she had worked as a beautician at Seshu Kumari's Eve's Beauty Parlor for six months. Recently, Kranthi left her job and had started her own parlour in the same locality. Unable to digest the fact that she had become independent, they bore a grudge and had started threatening her. They also told her to leave the locality or else there would be trouble'', she added.
Kranthi said that even after she had lodged a complaint to the SR Nagar police, they had failed to take action against Seshu Kumari and her close aide C Ravindra Kumar. Ravindra Kumar also tried to sexual assault her, complains Kranthi.
After receiving the complaint, Kakamanu Peda Peri Reddy, Member of SHRC directed Punjagutta ACP to look into issue and submit a comprehensive report to the commission by March 14.
