HYDERABAD: Around 1,500 under-privileged children from 10 schools run by non-governmental organisations participated in the annual painting event, Balakalakaar, organised by the AISEC.

Initiated by Aditya Soma, AIESEC president for the year 2005, Balakalakaar aims at providing these children an opportunity to discover their inherent potential for art.

Speaking more about their efforts to reach out to the youth, Anirudh Gadiraju, incumbent vice-president for the NGO sector of AIESEC explained, “The event is powered by the youth, bringing about a mutual exchange of artistic expertise and a sense of team playing.” The event is run by Indian as well as international volunteers, aged between 19 to 23 years.
