HYDERABAD: Members of the family of Patlolla Govardhan Reddy, who was hacked to death in the city on December 27, submitted a representation to chief justice Madan B Lokur on Monday with a request to direct the CBI to investigate the killing.

Reddy’s wife Vindhya Reddy urged the chief justice to do justice to her by punishing the accused responsible for her husband’s death. Though her husband had sought security on September 30 fearing threat to his life, the government, particularly the police department, failed to provide any security to Govardhan Reddy resulting in his death at the hands of Md Nayeemuddin (absconding accused in DIG KS Vyas murder case). Besides the involvement of Nayeemuddin and some police officials, one Salla Chandra Reddy, a resident of Uppal, had planned to kill her husband, she alleged.

Stating that the state government and some influential political leaders were protecting the accused, Vindhya Reddy requested the chief justice to order a CBI probe and to punish the accused. She sent copies of her representation to the chief minister, Human Rights Commission chairman and heads of other constitutional bodies.
