HYDERABAD: With a quantum jump in the night traffic in the past few years, traffic police have decided to put in place the services of traffic Home Guards at 25 important junctions in the city on late night and early morning shifts.

Additional commissioner of police (traffic) CV Anand said traffic police were now working from 8 a.m to 10 p.m in two shifts. "It has been noticed that traffic after 10 pm and before 8 a.m has seen a quantum jump. There is a lot of movement of lorries and private buses along with regular traffic after 10 pm and school traffic from 7 am,'' he said.

As such, he said, they recognised the need for traffic management also between 10 p.m and 8 a.m. For this, 25 important junctions have been identified and the traffic police have made a special allotment of two Home Guards for each junction to regulate and manage the traffic from 10 p.m to midnight and 6 a.m to 8 a.m.
