HYDERABAD: A division bench of the High Court has issued notices to the state government and other authorities concerned on a writ petition filed in respect of encroachments in thousands of acres of land belonging to the Bhoodan Board in Ibrahimpatnam mandal in Ranga Reddy district.

Dealing with a writ petition filed by Telangana Bhooporata Samithi president Kavali Yadaiah, the division bench comprising chief justice Madan B. Lokur and justice PV Sanjay Kumar ordered issuance of notices to the government, chief secretary and 10 others seeking an explanation, and posted the case for hearing on March 12.

The petitioner contended that several illegal structures and encroachments had come up on lands belonging to the Bhoodan Board. Officials claimed that they could not trace relevant records, the petitioner said and alleged that officials colluded with some real estate agents facilitating the latter to encroach the lands.
