Bike gang snatches 19 tola gold chains

HYDERABAD: A bike gang was involved in five incidents of chain snatching in five different localities, snatching 19 tola gold from women including a typist working in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. Two incidents took place in Malakpet police station limits while one each was reported from Saidabad, Abids and Langar Houz limits.

Police suspect the same bike gang might have been involved in all incidents reported from 6.30 a.m to 11.45 am. Around 9.30 am on Wednesday, Sarojini Devi (41), a typist working in the Legislative Assembly was walking in Siripuram Colony to catch a bus to office, a few miscreants riding on a bike came from the opposite direction, snatched her four tola gold chain and fled away. Later, she lodged a complaint to Malakpet police.

In another incident, Lakshmi, a resident of East Prashantnagar was going to temple when two persons on a bike snatched away her threeandhalf tola gold chain.

In third incident in Madhuranagar, police said when 48 yearold Satyawathi was going out, the gang snatched away her four tola gold ornament. Around 6.30 am, a housewife Anuman Bai, a resident of Katlamandi was walking on the road when two persons on the bike snatched her four tola gold chain. The final incident ocurred in Langer Houz police station limits around 11.45 am. where Venkatrao, an employee of HMT lodged a complaint stating that a few miscreants were involved in snatching a three tola gold chain from his wife Annapuran when she was talking with her friend.

In all incidents, police registered cases under section 383 (theft after preparation made for causing hurt) and investigation is on.
