HYDERABAD: Dealing with a habeas corpus petition filed by P Sumathi, wife of P Ramesh, an accused in a theft case, alleging police harassment, justice L Narasimha Reddy of the High Court on Thursday directed the Pet Basheerabad police station house officer and subinspector to appear before him on Friday.
The judge also pulled up the assistant government pleader for failure to submit a copy of the FIR and a counter affidavit.
The petitioner, hailing from Valgonda village in Mallapur mandal in Karimnagar district, alleged that the police had been harassing her and her son and relatives, and detained some of them, including her husband Mohan Reddy.
A case was registered against Ramesh for stealing `5 lakh and an Innova car of Dr Ramachandra Reddy on December 25.
