HYDERABAD: A day after being caught by customs officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad for bringing in goods from Dubai without paying customs duty, the four persons, including the kin of a minister and MLAs, were released on Thursday after completing the formalities.
Th four _ Kanna Phaninder, son of minister Kanna Lakshminarayana; Ravi Yadav, son of MLA Bikshapathi Yadav; B Laxma Reddy, brother of another MLA; and G Prasad _ were detained on arrival on Wednesday morning and let off late in the night.
They were asked to appear before the officials on Thursday.
Accordingly, they appeared before the directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI) officials and were questioned about the origin of the foreign liquor and electronic items they brought and also about the evasion of tax.
Officials said the goods would be released after the customs duty was paid.
