HYDERABAD: The High Court on Monday dismissed a petition seeking declaration of government’s refusal to raise the upper age limit by three years for candidates of sub-inspector of police (SI) posts as illegal.

Dealing with a writ petition filed by the All India Youth Federation said that the state government did not consider its representation in this regard, the court, while dismissing the plea, said that it cannot intervene in the matter as it is the government’s prerogative to take a decision on age relaxation.

It may be mentioned here that the job aspirants have been demanding that the upper age limit be increased from 25 to 28 years (general category) for SI posts.

The government has rejected the demand.
