From playing little Aamir Khan in a host of films to becoming Bollywood’s latest pin-up boy, from I Hate Luv Storys to Delhi Belly, Imran Khan has been experimenting like never before. Soon after his bad boy role in Delhi Belly, the actor talks about his adarsh beta role in his upcoming flick, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.
Not like What Happens in Vegas
Imran Khan refutes all comments that this movie is a copy of What Happens in Vegas. “My movie Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is not similar to What Happens in Vegas,” says the actor, adding, “If you guys have seen the movie, Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz win a jackpot and con each other for divorce to get that money. But, in this movie, I play the role of a good boy, who always listens to his parents and is very reserved. He then meets Kareena Kapoor, who is free-spirited and joyful. The storyline is very different.” Talking a little on the music of the film, he says, “All the songs are catchy and great. My favourite song is Aahatein.”
Butt of things
One particular scene in the movie, where Kareena Kapoor pinches Imran Khan’s butt has been gaining a lot of controversy. The Censor Board has reportedly asked the makers to delete that scene, claiming that it is inappropriate. Director of the romantic-comedy, Shakun Batra was visibly upset. Imran Khan asserted that there should be a balance between censorship and freedom of speech and expression. “The Censor Board was definitely lenient with me during Delhi Belly. I think we are being overtly cautious. And, I don’t find this embarrassing at all. It’s a privilege to get pinched by Kareena.”
Evidently in admiration of Kareena, Imran says, “She is so alive and likeable and she does all of this effortlessly. She is a brilliant actor and is so unaffected by her stardom. Once she is on the sets, she forgets that she is Kareena Kapoor and just gets into the role.” When asked about his confessed crush on her, Imran says, “I definitely do. Who doesn’t?”
Imran Khan is working towards having an image make-over. He is growing a beard to transform his chocolate-boy looks to a more rustic one. “I am working with Vishal Bharadwaj and this beard is also for that role. It’s nice to see myself in different roles and yes, I love experimenting.” He further adds, “As an actor, I do scripts that are offered to me and also that interest me. I am least bothered about how big my role is, or how is my co-actor’s role is going to affect mine. I believe that there are no small roles. Every role is equally important and challenging.”
