HYDERABAD: The state cabinet, which met here on Monday, gave its nod for a state innovation council to prepare a road map for innovation for the next decade.

It will suggest measures for transaction of government business with focus on citizen, cost reduction and efficient service delivery.

An IAS officer will be its member- secretary and will have nine members from agricultural, industrial, infrastructure, education, pharmaceutical and social sectors.

It will have a 3 year term.

MARINE POLICE STATIONS: The cabinet gave go-ahead for establishment of 15 marine police stations on the state's coast _ Visakhapatnam (3), Srikakulam, East Godavari, Krishna, Prakasham and Nellore (2 each), Vizianagaram and Guntur (one each).

The Centre will provide a grant of `144 crore for construction of buildings, jetties, furniture and vehicles.

The state government will bear the maintenance expenses which comes to around `43 crore a year.

PROPERTY TAX BOARD: It was decided to amend the AP Municipal Tax Act and give more powers to the State Property Tax Board.

The board will have power to decide on tax and impose penalty.

The bill will be called AP Property Tax Amendment Bill-2012.

INAM LAND ACT: The cabinet decided to amend the AP Inam Land Act 1956 to extend its coverage to Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.

Any person holding inam land for doing service to the institution can hold it as long as he serves it.

In case the inam land-holder stops service, land will be taken over.

Such a rule is existing in Telangana.

ASSIGNED LANDS: The cabinet decided to increase compensation to farmers whose assigned lands were taken by the government.

In Chittoor the government acquired lands from farmers for giving to the CRPF.
