HYDERABAD: Global Hospitals celebrated World Kidney Day on Sunday.
In tune with this year’s theme of promoting organ donation and transplantation, a kidney transplantation was performed at the hospital at Lakadikapul.
The living donor, Naga Kumari (30), donated one of her kidneys to her husband Srinivasa Rao.
The hospital has performed 150 kidney transplantations till now, Of those kidneys, 56 were donated by living persons _ 40 by wife to husband, four by mother to daughter, 16 by mother to son, three by sister to sister and three by sister to brother.
Yasoda hospital, in the city conducted a wokshop on ‘Live Surgery’ and a scientific symposium across 5 different specialities for the first time in Kurnool on Sunday. The events were conducted with an aim to not only provide an understanding of latest surgical techniques through live surgical procedures, but also to enable hands-on learning through interactive sessions with participants.
K Srikanth, surgical oncologist at Yashoda said, “We have chosen Kurnool for this unique workshop owing to its rapid strides in healthcare sector”. Three live procedures in 3 different specialities were broadcast.
