HYDERABAD: A huge quantity of chemicals and raw materials used in paints were gutted in a major accident that took place at a packaging company’s godown at Subhashnagar in Jeedimetla police limits on Monday.

The fire broke out at Lakshya Packaging Company around 7.30 am.

Locals immediately alerted the police who informed fire services officials.

“The fire spread rapidly due to wind. A fire-tender requisitioned from the Jeedimetla Fire Station fought for more than four hours to put out the fire,’’ police said. The chemical godown, situated in a residential area, belongs to Devram Choudahry.

Police registered a case against him. They suspect short-circuit to be the reason for the mishap.
