HYDERABAD: S Srikanth(23), who immolated himself at NTR Nagar on Wednesday in support of separate Telangana state, succumbed to burn injuries on Friday.

Srikanth, a resident of NTR Nagar, put kerosene on his body and set him ablaze on Wednesday, demanding separate statehood for Telangana region.

He was admitted to Osmania General Hospital with serious burn injuries and was undergoing treatment.

US Consul Visits GHMC

HYDERABAD: Katherine S. Dhanani, US Consul General on Friday interacted with mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain, MT Krishna Babu, GHMC Commissioner on the need to improve pedestrian- friendly footpaths on either side of the roads for the convenience of the general public and to ease city’s traffic congestion.

Krishna Babu in response to the suggestions, mentioned that the corporation was developing footpaths on a priority basis.

The Mayor also took the occasion to mention about the GHMC’s recent cycling initiative and the plan to set up dedicated cycling tracks.

Further, the Mayor expressed eagerness to make a sister city agreement with Chicago city for technology exchange.
