The South India shopping mall in Kukatpally, which was sealed last week by the town planning wing of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), reopened on Thursday.
GHMC commissioner M T Krishna Babu issued necessary orders to the effect after the owner of the sealed building gave an undertaking that they would rectify the defects listed out by the corporation such as handing over the occupied portion for road widening, shifting the electric transformer to a suitable place, completing the under construction building as per the time frame and most importantly, obtaining the Occupancy Certificate (OC), which is mandatory as per the GHMC Act.
Under 461 (A) of the GHMC Act, the commissioner has powers to open the sealed building. Based on the orders Krishna Babu’s orders, the seals were removed GHMC officials added.
