ITS ready, awaits Government’s nod

The master plan draft for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) for Hyderabad Metropolitan Area (HMA) is ready. And it would be implemented from next year after getting approval from the state government.

The consultants for the project from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), have integrated the on-going Hyderabad Traffic Integrated Management System (H-TRIMS) Project of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Traffic Police and GPS project of APSRTC and prepared a draft ITS Master Plan for implementation of ITS in three phases for next 15 years at a cost of Rs 916 crore.

The project it will partly be funded by JICA, partly by ministry of urban development and state government. In the first phase, the pilot project is proposed at an estimated cost of Rs 160.35 crore, be taken up from the unspent funds of the ORR project.
