Navaratri celebrations in full swing

As Bengalis in the city are anxiously waiting for the Durga Puja celebrations to begin, Bangiya Sanskritik Sangha, Secunderabad, has put together an interesting line-up of events for the five-day festival.

Starting October 18, the puja celebrations will be held at the Keyes Girls High School. The mornings will be packed with puja rituals and religious ceremonies followed by distribution of prasad and lunch. Various recitals and competition are also part of the celebrations. There are events lined up for various age groups, right from antakshari, painting and quiz competitions to concluding Dandiya ceremony on the day of Dashami.

The evenings will be packed with various cultural events. Artists from Kolkata are scheduled to perform during this period. Popular Bollywood playback singer Mamta Sharma of ‘Munni Badnam Hui’ fame is also set to entertain the audience on the October 23 evening. Apart from cultural events, delicacies from the streets of Kolkata will be available for a gastronomic experience. Most of the events will start at 10:30 am each morning. The festivities will end on October 24 with the grand procession for the immersion at Tankbund.
