Five of a family die in suicide pact

A day ahead of Dasara festivities, five members of a family ended their life in a suicide pact, leaving the residents of Santoshnagar in a state of shock. Huge losses in business is said to have driven the businessman to the extreme step.

The businessman, Sukhveer Goud (50), along with his wife Manjula (42) and eldest daughter Durga (22) hanged themselves to death after making the two other children - Sruthi (18) and Srujana (11) - consume poison. The incident took place near the Sri Venkateswara temple under Santoshnagar police limits. The bodies were discovered around 3.30 p.m. Monday when a family friend came to their house.

The businessman left a suicide note in which he said they were ending lives due to losses in business. His neighbours told police that he was under pressure since few days as some persons, who gave loans to him, were forcing him to repay the amount.
