Man, wife from West Godavari found murdered

No property stolen; motive of the murder is yet to be known

A 55-year-old man and his 45-year-old wife were found murdered under suspicious circumstances in their house here on Sunday.  The incident took place near Mukund film theatre in Medchal police station limits. However, the motive for the murder is not yet known as no property was stolen.

According to police, undentified persons killed the couple by smashing their head.

N Mutyal Rao, a watchman at an underconstruction building, and his wife Ratna Kumari, a worker in a mosquito coil company, were natives of West Godavari district and had migrated to Medak 10 years ago.

Rao and his wife were staying in a room in the under construction building belonging to a doctor, Rambabu. At around 8 am, a worker, Ramesh, came to Rao’s house and called out his name. As there was no response, Ramesh entered the house and found the couple lying on the bed, unconscious,” assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Petbasheerabad division, Syed Rafeek said.

Ramesh informed Rambabu of the incident, who in turn alerted the police. “Rambabu, who stays near the building, came to their house on Saturday night to invite the couple for his daughter’s birthday party, that was supposed to be held on Sunday. We suspect that some unknown persons might have killed the couple after Rambabu left the place. Reasons are yet to be known,” the ACP said.

The victim’s daughters, who are staying in their native place, have been informed of the death. Based on the complaint, Medchal police registered a case against the accused under section 302 (murder) and investigation is on.
