A 32-year-old inebriated man killed his roommate by smashing his head with a marble stone after the victim refused to bring more liquor, near Azizia Masjid in Nampally police station limits.
According to the police, the dispute took place among three roommates while they were drinking in their rented house. With the liquor got over, the accused, believed to be hailing from Nagpur, asked the victim, 45-year-old Venkat Reddy, to go out and buy more liquor. When Reddy refused, the accused killed him by smashing his head. Reddy, a native of Chittoor district, came to the city 15-years ago and had a small business near the Nampally railway station.
The Nampally police, however, did not reveal which of the two roommates - Khalid and Lalu - had killed Venkat. The duo had left the house after the incident and came back to find Reddy lying unconscious in a pool of blood. They then alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted the dead body to Osmania General Hospital.
