1.77 lakh qualify in Polycet, Godavari districs bag top ranks

As many as 1,77,678 candidates  qualified in the Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (POLYCET-2013) out of the  2,46,970 who took the examination this year recording 71.94 pass percentage.

Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE)chairman Prof P Jayaprakasa Rao in the presence of commissioner of technical education Ajay Jain released the results here on Friday  at Sankethika Vidya Bhavan.

The qualifying mark is 30 per cent. That means candidates who scored 36 out of 120 marks are qualified.

However all the SC, ST candidates who appeared for the exam have qualified as there is no qualifying mark for them. Interestingly all the top 10 ranks were secured by students of East and West Godavari districts. While East Godavari district students bagged seven ranks among top 10 including the first and second, West Godavari district students bagged 3 ranks in top 10.

Surampudi Sai Sriharsha topped the list by scoring 119 out of 120, while Gajjala Sai Satya Kiranmayee secured second rank though she scored 119 marks. Sriharsha was given first rank as he had scored more marks than Kiranmayee in physics.

In all, 2,51,826 candidates have enrolled for POLYCET-2013 this year but only 2,46,970 took the examination held on May 2.

Continuing the trend, the girl students outperformed their male counterparts in the examination. The state has 115 government polytechnic colleges with an intake of 25,025 students and there are 332 private polytechnic colleges with a student intake of 93,891.

Web Counselling from May 29

Hyderabad: Web counseling for candidates who cleared Polycet-2013 will commence from May 29 and freezing of options from June 1. The candidates can download the rank cards from the following website  https://apceep.nic.in  from May 20. The scanned OMR sheets will also be placed in the same website on May 23 for individual verification of the candidates.  A detailed notification regarding web counseling will appear in all the leading newspapers in the third week of May. Candidates are advised to look for the same and attend the verification of certificates as per the schedule given in the newspapers at their respective helpline centres. The notification in the newspapers itself will be treated as a call letter for web counseling for admission if the rank card is not received by the candidate. No separate call letter for verification of certificates or web counselling will be sent to the candidate, according to a release.
