GHMC commissioner MT Krishna Babu on Monday evening directed heads of department and zonal commissioners to be ready with a contingency plan as the talks with striking workers failed. The plan should be operational by Tuesday evening, he said, adding that superintending engineers should hire JCBs and 10 to 25 tonne vehicles for removing garbage.
The commissioner will be holding a meeting with floor leaders and standing committee members to seek their cooperation for ending the strike. He asked zonal commissioners to involve local corporators for public support.
Meanwhile, Krishna Babu has spoken to the police commissioners of Hyderabad and Cyberabad and sought security at garbage transfer stations, vehicle parking yards and GHMC offices. Esma is in force and any attack on GHMC properties will be viewed seriously, he said.
