5 Express Corridors to be Identified Soon

5-km-long corridors will provide hassle-free travel for commuters

HYDERABAD: For a hassle-free travel for a minimum stretch of 5 km and above without any conflict at the junctions, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will identify at least five express corridors in the city in the next two days.

As per the instructions of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to identify and take up the proposals for express corridors in the city, senior officials of various departments and consultants will visit important strecthes where the movement of traffic is heavy and conflict at the junctions are common.

After the inspection, the senior officials will sit together, identify  the reasons for the traffic snarl problems, find solutions to over the traffic problems, is there any need to overhaul the junctions for smooth travel by avoiding conflict on the roads etc.

How much budget is required if express corridors in the city are identified etc, a report will be prepared and will be submitted to the state government within a week for taking necessary action.      

To provide free flow of traffic without signals the kind of systems to be adopted will be discussed in the next meeting due in two to three days time and instructions were given to the consultants to give technical survey report in this regard at the earliest, he added.

In the first phase, four or five express corridors will be identified and taken up.
