Air Warfare College's New Commandant

HYDERABAD: Air Vice-Marshal Sreekumar Prabhakaran has assumed charge as Commandant, College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad on Monday. He took over the command from Air Vice-Marshal DP Upot.

A 1983 batch fighter pilot of the Indian Air Force, he was a Senior Directing Staff (Air) at DSSC, Wellington. He had commanded two flying bases, one each as a Group Captain and as an Air Commodore. He had also served as the Defence Attache at the Indian Embassy in Cairo from September 2007 to December 2010. 

During this assignment, he was also accredited to Cyprus, Sudan and Djibouti. Air Vice-Marshal Prabhakaran has been awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in October 2005 for his distinguished services.

Air Vice-Marshal Prabhakaran had also commanded the prestigious Suryakiran Aerobatic Team for three years. Under him, the team gave over 150 public demonstrations without accidents during training or displays.
