HYDERABAD: The South Asian Women Development Forum (SAWDF) was granted the status of a SAARC-recognised body at the 41st SAARC Standing Committee of Foreign Secretaries meeting held on November 24.

“SAWDF is the first and only SAARC-recognised body working on the socio and economic issues of women at the regional level,” said Pramila Acharya Rijal, president, SAWDF.  With the status of a SAARC-recognised body, SAWDF can be a catalyst in strengthening the voice of women for empowerment and gender quality in the South Asian region, she said.
