Outgoing Mayor Claims Credit for Sister City Tie-ups

HYDERABAD: The outgoing Mayor of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Mohammad Majid Hussain, said the corporation took initiatives to enter into sister city tie-ups with important cities in the world and that recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made a reference of Hyderabad in Brisbane G-20 Meet to encourage city-to-city agreements in the future.

He was speaking at a press conference on occasion of end of his tenure as the Mayor of GHMC on Wednesday.

He was elected to the post on January 3, 2012. Majid Hussain listed out the initiatives taken by the corporation in making Hyderabad a metropolitan city, and the schemes it implemented for welfare of people.

“A great challenge lies ahead of us to work for comprehensive development of our city in the direction of making it a model city in the world,” Majid Hussain said, adding as the key civic body of the city rendering a number of services to the citizens, GHMC has historic responsibility to perform.
