THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: What goes around comes around, and the saying is quite apt for the fashion trends doing the rounds today. The winged eye-liner, the bouffant or beehive hair styles, the hair band and the dress code look like we are back in the 60s and the 70s. The age of the hippies. What was missing till now was the famed round-framed eye gear made popular by pop music icon John Lennon. Yes, they are back!

It seems the younger generation has become more receptive to the fashion trends swinging back. Their favourite celebrities from both Hollywood and Bollywood seem to be wearing and flaunting these specs which once John Lennon made a sensation. He would have never ‘imagine’d the young generation of the 21st century would sport one of these. Though Harry Potter was seen wearing these specs, it was never a rage that caught on with fashionistas.  So now who bought this back to India? We saw plenty of Ranveer Singh with his dashing debonair looks wearing these specs on more than one occasion. Parineeti Chopra was seen in a tinted version of it along with her co-stars in the movie ‘Kil Dil.’ This fashion trend hit the world of Hollywood well ahead with Lady Gaga sporting a wide variety of these round specs with complete devotion.

A few months ago, it was the Wayfarer which was a huge trend. Both young men and women who closely followed changing trends in fashion were seen wearing Wayfarer. Yes, the geek look was made to look cool with the non-tinted version of Wayfarer and now this has made way to the round-rimmed with fashion mongers hailing the Geek Look. The round rimmed glasses seem to be just catching up. Those who have already laid their hands on these claim that it is a must-have in their eyewear collection. Kids are seen teaming the look-up with some twist and turns of their own. Since the round-framed eye gear goes well with any western outfit, you can sport them with anything from  casual jeans, palazzo pants, skirts or the tuxedo.

If you have the guts to wear the round-framed glasses and carry off the Harry Potter look, then suit yourself. Never overdo the look by mixing it up with an Indian wear. It can look quite out of the box with a traditional mundu. But watch out if you plan to sport them with a saree or a salwar.

Diesel and John Galliano are the brands from where you can own them. Yes, it can get pricey there. But worry not, log on to some of those online shopping sites and grab your round-framed glasses now!
