Somesh Kumar Takes Charge as Special Officer of GHMC

HYDERABAD:  Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation commissioner Somesh Kumar on Thursday assumed charge as Special Officer of the corporation. Talking to newsmen here on the occasion,  Somesh Kumar thanked chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao for having faith in him and giving him the opportunity to serve as special officer. Somesh Kumar said that Hyderabad is one of the biggest cities having one crore population and there is every need to take care of basic civic amenities on priority.  He further said that a lot of improvement has to be done to the city by adopting new systems and giving importance to the representations of the citizens. Somesh stated that he would try his best to see that the citizens’ needs are addressed on priority and also meet the requirement of the government and vision of the chief minister and try to ensure that the city becomes a world-class city.  GHMC was formed on April 16, 2007 by merging 12 municipalities and 8 gram panchayats with the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad.
