Highlighting the unprecedented delay in disbursing scholarships to students, AP BC Welfare Society president R Krishnaiah demanded the State Government to immediately release the funds to save students from losing their academic year.

Speaking at a demonstration staged by BC students demanding scholarships here on Sunday, he said, “The academic year is coming to an end in a month, but none of the 28 lakh beneficiaries have received the scholarship so far. Many students have taken up part-time jobs to continue their studies.”

Although the students have been protesting for the past three months, there has been no response from the government. Krishnaiah accused the government of lethargy. “There are BC and SC ministers in the government, but they have remained mute spectators and have not done anything to stop the injustice being done to students from their community,” he added.

He also urged the government to remove Aadhar Card and fee disbursement linkage which is causing the inordinate delay in disbursing the amount.
