The state government on Friday formally invited Hyderabad native and the newly-appointed of Microsoft Satya Nadella to visit Hyderabad. The invitation was extended on behalf of the government by minister of information technology Ponnala Lakshmaiah to visit the city and witness its development, especially in the field of information technology.
Satya studied at the Hyderabad Public School (HPS) which is also the chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s alma mater.
In his letter dashed off to Satya on Friday, Lakshmaiah said, “I am sure that you know all about the rich heritage of the city of Hyderabad, having spent about 21 years here, a shade less than your 22-year stint at Microsoft. But, since you left the city, things have changed dramatically in all dimensions in the last decade or so. We are sure you are plugged in to the city through your hallmark development centre in Hyderabad and your family connections over here.
“However, it will be our pleasure to host your visit to the city of Hyderabad. The department of information technology and communications will be pleased to make all arrangements for you to witness the tremendous growth of our city of Hyderabad,” the minister said in the letter.
“As minister for information technology, electronics and communications for the government of AP, let me formally extend this invite to you to make an elaborate visit to your home town of Hyderabad. Your visit will certainly bring instant attention, inspire the local industry and create a major impact for the growth of IT in the state,” Ponnala said.
“Hyderabad is the operational hub for over 1,200 IT companies employing over 3,50,000 employees. The city is home to almost all the top 500 IT companies. Microsoft, Google and Amazon have their biggest presence in Hyderabad. The city has a very special relation with Microsoft.
Congratulating Satya, the minister said Satya deserved it and the people of the state were proud of him. Revenue minister N Raghuveera Reddy said that they would felicitate Satya Nadella, whose family hails from Anantapur district.
