A bunch of Hyderabadis, seemingly Arvind Kejriwal enthusiasts and donning Aam Admi Party caps, opened a new party office near the GHMC office at Khairatabad in the city on Friday.
The banner, sporting their icon Arvind Kejriwal and a broom, read ‘’Aam Aadmi Party Telangana Region Action Committee’’ and asked the citizens to join AAP to save the nation. The ‘new party’ rolled out its plan of action for the region and state’s bifurcation.
Surprisingly, members of the Aam Aadmi Party in the city, claimed ignorance of such an office of AAP sprouting in the city.
MM Hussain, convener of the new outfit, said the inauguration of the party office: “We have several issues to be raised. Like Arvind Kejriwal has stated, we have done many sting operations to expose corrupt officials and politicians. We have all the proofs with which we are going to approach the public.”
According to him, among the first of the demands to be taken up will be setting up of parent-teacher associations in all corporate schools. “We have received many complaints from people that officials are hand in glove with corporate schools. We have enough evidence. We request all corporate schools to form parents-teachers associations first,” he said. He had only request to the media: “Please take our voice to Kejriwal.”
Further, he said his ‘AAP Telangana Region Joint Action Committee’ would suggest 20 per cent reservation for people from Seemandhra in Telangana after bifurcation. “For the initial 10 years, we suggest a 20 per cent reservation in government jobs for Andhra people after which it should be brought down to 10 per cent. We want to live like brothers.”
The real Aam Aadmi Party, which has its state office near Villa Marie College on Raj Bhavan Road, flatly disowns the new unit. “We we have not opened another office. They are cashing in on Arvind’s popularity,” said C Vinod Kumar, city convener, AAP.
Ramakrishnam Raju, convener, said, “This is not the first time we are coming across such things. We are taking stock of things and setting them right. They cannot use our party symbol and name. We will take action.”
According to him, the euphoria created by AAP is such that elements with ulterior motives have been cashing in on its name and fame.
