Assembly Passes Bill Amid Protests

Amidst slogan shouting by TRS members, the state Assembly guillotined motions including annual financial statement for 2014-15. No debate was initiated on the vote-on-account budget in the House.

When the House sat for discussion on the Annual Financial Statement (Budget), the TRS members trooped into the well and raised slogans against chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. Few TDP members from Telangana too occupied the well.

TRS members raised slogans like ‘Chief minister down down and Seemandhra Sabha Makoddu’. During the pandemonium, Speaker Nadendla Manohar read out the adjournment motions notices given by four parties and rejected them. As the House was not in order, the Speaker adjourned the House for one hour at 10.05 am.

When the House reassembled at 11.43 a.m., the Speaker wanted finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy to move the motion to grant a sum of Rs 7,94,69,83,13,000 in advance receipt of the essential expenditure a part of the financial year 2014-15.  Later, the motion was adopted with voice vote. Then, he moved a government Bill The AP Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (Amendment) Bill-2013. It was immediately passed with voice vote. Later the Speaker adjourned the House for the day.
