A public interest litigation was filed in the High Court on Tuesday for a direction to the Central government and the Governor to ensure that governance is in place in the state.

Petitioner Gangisetti Rajani, advocate of the city, submitted that state affairs are not being run in accordance with the Constitution, following resignation by chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy last week.

She said the ruling Congress has failed to elect a new leader to its legislature party and the Governor has failed to explore the possibility of inviting the second single largest party TDP to form the government.

Administration has come to a grinding halt and there is a failure of the Constitutional machinery in the state, she said.
