Though state government employees had expected an announcement on Tuesday sanctioning interim relief (IR) to them, the government did not make any announcement.

According to sources, the finance department proposed to give 17 per cent as against the demand of employees for 45 to 50 per cent IR.

The department circulated the file for approval of 17 per cent IR. Immediately after he received the file, the chief minister held discussions with finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and chief secretary PK Mohanty at the chief minister’s camp office on Tuesday night.  However, the chief minister did not make an announcement. He may hold a meeting with  employees and inform them of the finance department’s proposal and then take a decision.

The APNGOs and TNGOs are opposing 17 per cent interim relief and are expecting at least 22 per cent IR this time.
