No Revelry-related Road Fatalities on New Year Eve

The year 2014 started on a good note with no major road accidents being reported during the New Year eve revelry. New Year’s Eve revelries are synonymous with fatal road accidents involving motorists and two-wheeler riders. Most of the times, the accidents are a result of inebriated drivers and riders. However, 2014 saw no revelry-related road mishap being reported in the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
However, the celebrations did turn sour for those caught driving after alcohol intake.
The Cyberabad and Hyderabad traffic police registered as many as 375 drunken driving cases and seized vehicles on the spot.
In Hyderabad, as many as 175 drunken driving cases were registered while Cyberabad saw 200 cases being registered.
The deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Traffic, Cyberabad, Avinash Mohanty said, “Police closed flyovers and took up thorough checks on Outer Ring Road (ORR).and set up 50 checkposts in all the major localities in Cyberabad to prevent untoward incidents.”
