Thomas Macaulay’s system of education that was implemented in India was a disaster and led to decline of Indian values, former CBI joint director VV Lakshminarayana has said.
Speaking on ‘Faces of Corruption and Citizen Response’ at a meeting organised by Manthan here on Friday, he said levels of corruption would be low if education system imparted values to children. Claiming that he had met more than 2 lakh children in the past two months, he said he was keen to start a school.
Terming corruption as that retards economic development and anti-national, the IPS officer said it reached a stage where people had to pay bribe even for legitimate things.
“The USP of our nation is spirituality which helps us look within ourselves and realise what we are, and bringing it back will solve the problems,” he said.
