This month-end, students can head to Spring Fest which is the annual social and cultural festival of IIT Kharagpur. Being held from January 23 to 26, the Fest has a plethora events lined up covering different genres and offering students a platform to showcase their versatile talent and competitive spirit. The Fest is associated with organisations like CRY, UNESCO, Ministry of Environments and Forests and Green Peace to forward its social causes. Towards this, it has been successful in raising funds for its activities through corporate deals with companies. Students can also look forward to the Star Nights where the attractions include performances by notable bands and Bollywood singers.
Previous editions have played host to Bollywood singers like KK, Vishal Shekhar, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shankar Mahadevan and rock bands of the likes of Monuments and TesseracT (U.K), Parikrama and Goddess Gagged. Other notable performances include Advaita, The Raghu Dixit Project, Mrigya and Indian Ocean.
Owing to the overwhelming participation, Spring Fest organizes three nationwide events Wildfire - the rock band competition, (Mumbai, Bangalore, Guwahati, Delhi and Kolkata), Nukkad - the street play competition (Bhopal, Chandigarh, Delhi, Kharagpur, Lucknow, Nagpur and Pune) and Shuffle - street dance competition. These events have grown to be some of the biggest in their respective genres. In additions to this, students can take part in the three day conference IIT Kharagpur Model United Nations which will be held from January 24 to 26. Take part in the innovative councils, a dynamic International Press, exciting crisis simulations and the much awaited delegate night.
With the enthusiasm of the organizing team and the palpable excitement in the air, this edition promises to be the biggest so far. The 55th edition of Spring Fest is scheduled to be held from January 23 to 26.
