Five inmates of a women’s hostel in BN Reddy Nagar on Wednesday morning lodged an allegedly ‘fake’ complaint against their hostel warden’s son and his friends in order to take revenge on the warden.
They approached Vanasthalipuram police complaining of molestation attempt by their hostel warden’s son Naresh.
A case was registered against the warden’s son and his friends under section 447(5)(11) IPC for trespass bid and intimidation. During the course of investigation, it was found to be a fake complaint.
All the five, hailing from Bihar, are MBA students at a college at Ibrahimpatnam. They said in their complaint that warden’s son Naresh, who manages the Sai Manikanta hostel in which they stay, has helped his friends who have forcefully entered into their rooms and tried to molest them. The youth were allegedly drunk and acted in an intimidating manner, the girls told the police. “At night 12.30 am, they got drunk and banged on their doors and created nuisance. The girls got frightened, and friends from nearby hostels came over and took them away. Investigation is on,” police inspector Gopal Krishna Murthy said.
According to the complainants, Naresh found an opportune time when other girls have left for their home places for Sankranti and induced his friends to take advantage of the situation.
The five girls have since been shifted to another hostel. Vanasthalipuram deputy commissioner of police (DCP) P Viswa Prasad confirmed the case was found to be fake. “It is a hundred percent false complaint. Warden Navaneetham is known to be a strict person and the girls did not like her much. The warden had complained recently to the management of their college and parents of these girls about their behaviour. She had said the girls were not turning up at the hostel on time. One girl’s parents had also arrived last week to counsel her and apologised to the college management. The girls wanted to take revenge for this episode,” he said.
One of the girls turned up at the hostel with her boy friend at around 11.30 pm on Tuesday. The warden, her son Naresh and a couple of his friends were having dinner at that time. On being questioned by them, the girl picked up a fight , the police officer said.
