In appreciation of the lowest rate of accidents recorded by the APSRTC among the state road transport undertakings, Union minister of road transport and highways Oscar Fernandes presented Transport Ministry’s Trophy to the corporation’s vice-chairman and managing director J Purnachandra Rao at a function held in Delhi on Thursday.
While awarding the trophy, Fernandes appreciated the APSRTC _ which has 215 depots and a fleet of 22,695 buses plying 67.75 lakh km _ for maintaining the lowest accident rate.
Purnachandra Rao attributed the corporation’s lowest accident rate to the efforts and efficiency of its drivers, trainers and mechanics.
